Young cat follows a man home, settles comfortably in his living room and effectively adopts himself: 'He’s sleeping on my couch as I post this'

The Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways, and yet it always seems to get it purrfectly right. Somehow, it knows exactly when a hooman is ready for a feline companion - and which lucky kitty is destined to join their home. Sometimes it happens through adoption events, sometimes at the shelter, and sometimes… a cat just decides for you by showing up at your doorstep and declaring: "I live here now".

When a cat follows us, it's almost impossible to resist. Especially if you're already a feline fanatic, those tiny paws padding behind you feel like destiny itself. And honestly, what choice do we even have when a sweet little face looks up at us with trust and hope? For this young cat, following his future human home turned out to be the best decision he could have ever made. He didn't just find a couch to nap on - he found safety, warmth, and love. And from the way he's already settled in, it looks like he knows he's exactly where he belongs.

    Went for a walk... little guy followed me for a couple blocks came into my home and hasn't left since... I'll see if he wants to leave tomorrow morning or over night

  • Just from the sheer number of pictures this man took of this cat while he followed him, it's quite obvious he fell in love with this sweet stray as they walked home.

    ServinR OP⚫ I saw he is a boy... I will take him to the vet tomorrow though it's late where I'm from now ... I did find an alley cat before that was pregnant and we had to terminate her pregnancy and gave her away to a teenage girl in my family... both seem happy last I saw them 427 ◇ Reply

    snowing, icy and dark. I had put two insulated houses out but she was so afraid she didn't use them. That night I ran out with warmed canned food and then warmed chicken breast- she gobbled it down. I stood in the dark, with no coat on, talking to her (begging her to trust me!) and come inside.

    I'll be damned if she didn't come to me. She rubbed her cheek on my leg and allowed me to pet her. After five minutes she was purring like a motorboat and I scooped her up and brought her inside. Do I have three dogs and three birds? Yes, I do! But MerryBelle moved in anyhow and stayed for four months, as I thought she was pregnant and I needed to also teach her that people can be safe.

    But, she also had several deep wounds on the crown of her head. They were slightly healed but my best guess is she was attacked by a hawk or coyote, both prevalent in my area. I think she finally realized that I seemed a heck of a lot safer than the streets. MerryBelle is now Maddie and she is living her very best life with my mom and her husband! And I get to visit her.
